These are mine - get your own!

The 3rd Annual "Dog Days" at the Pool

Over 50 dogs and their owners took advantage of the cool waters of the QCRC pool on Tuesday, September 2nd.  The 90o+ temperatures made the water even more refreshing for dogs and owners alike.  Participants made donations to the local SPCA and were given a tennis ball as they entered the gates, "dog hyjinks" soon followed.  One dog even took a leap off the diving board, while not quite ready for the US 1212 Olympic team, style points were awarded.

"It's the most popular day at the pool for the entire season. You should consider such an event once a month next year" one owner said.  Tails were wagging to that suggestion.  So, we will make a note of that.

New this year a photo gallery of Dogs enjoying the event.

2nd ANNUAL

DOG Paddle DAYS
@
Queen City Pool

Lot's of smiling faces
& wagging tails!

We would like to thank all the dogs and their escorts for making QCRC's second annual Dog Paddle Days a great sucess.  Over 70 dogs attended the event on Tuesday September 4th raising over $300. & Queen City Racquet Club made a matching contribution to the area SPCA; helping those less fortunate dogs in our area.  That's over $600. worth of dog biscuits and chew toys. Way to go QCRC Members!

Thanks also go out to those co-sponsoring the event:

    • George Meinberg State Farm for donating and grilling the "Hot Dogs"
    • Sibcy Cline Realty for the Dog Bisciuts & Prizes
    • Q.C.R.C for the Beer & Drinks

The Queen City Pool officially closes on Labor Day each summer.  The later weeks of the 2007 summer have been real "Dog Days" with temperatures above 90 degrees through-out August and most of September.  It's seems a shame to just drain the Queen City Pool once the gates are closed for summer.  So, each year the Tuesday after Labor Day we will be holding the QCRC Dog Paddle Days.  You are invited to attend next years event.  So,mark your calendar for Tuesday September 2, 2008 it's a howling good time.

The "best legs" award goes to.........

Did you know that QCRC has as a member; that is one of Tennis’ highest ranking players in the country?

George McCabe is ranked 3rd in singles and first in doubles in the 75 and over division of the USTA.  George began playing tennis in his 40’s.  He won many titles during his service as a Naval Pilot and later as a school teacher.

George now lives in Oxford, Ohio when he is not traveling to tournaments across the globe.

George recently represented the USA in Turkey, helping to lead the USA team to a Second place finish among 10 countries.  He has also played on the US Team versus Canada, in the Gordon Trophy Cup.

T
he friendships that have been established plus the competition are the things George enjoys most about tennis.  He will be heading south next month for his annual Senior Florida Tour.

Good Luck George; send a post card.

DOG Paddle DAYS
@ the QCRC Pool

The First Annual Dog Paddle Days
 took place on
Tuesday Sept 5th 2006
6- 8 pm

Each dog was asked to make a small donation to the local area SPCA to help serve the needs of those canines that are not members of such a "cool" fitness facility.  QCRC made a matching contribution, so it's biscuits all around.

Approximately 20 dogs took advantage of the refreshing waters of the Queen City Pool the day after Labor Day and the day before the pool was drained in preparation for fall.

We'd like to thank the proud owners of "Stormy" and "Sophie" for participating in such a fun event and for helping us to clear the swimming pool of all the stray tennis balls.

We plan to make it an annual event so put it on your calendar for '07
